The Revista Argentina de Endocrinología y Metabolismo (Argentine Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism) publishes original articles from Argentina and abroad on clinical, biochemical or experimental work in endocrinology and metabolism, including rapid communications as original articles. The Journal also publishes case reports, reviews, letters to the editor, articles by Argentinian endocrinologists published in foreign journals, reports by SAEM (Sociedad Argentina de Endocrinología y Metabolismo) departments and analyses of new journals and book reviews.
The authors must enter through the link Manuscript virtual loading platform and must complete all the fields of the form with the corresponding information. After this, at the end of the form they must press the Send Manuscript button. This will generate a Word document that will be automatically sent to the RAEM magazine email along with the presentation letter for the work.
A. Original Articles
Should meet the following requirements:
- They should be written in English or Spanish, not exceed 12 pages in accordance with the criteria stated under the general considerations section.
- The first page of the manuscript should contain the Title, which should be accurate and reflect the main content of the article. This title page should also contain the authors’ last name followed by their initials. Authors’ institutional affiliations or, for collaborative work, the affiliation of every co-author should be indicated. The postal address, telephone, as well as e-mail address of the corresponding author should be provided, and an asterisk should be placed next to his/her name in the list of authors.
- The content of subsequent correlatively numbered pages should be ordered as follows, with titles in capital letters: a) ABBREVIATED TITTLE no longer than 30 characters in Spanish or English (depending on the language in which the manuscript is written) for the header of inner pages; b) up to five keywords in Spanish and five in English; c) ABSTRACT in Spanish and English; d) INTRODUCTION; e) MATERIAL AND METHODS; f) RESULTS; g) DISCUSSION and h) REFERENCES.
- Tables should appear on separate pages and be numbered with Roman numerals in the order of their appearance in the text. They should be understandable in isolation from the article and have a text that clearly explains their content.
- Images: these may be figures, graphs, drawings, photographs provided in black and white or colour, using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other graphics software, on white paper. Electronic files should render high-quality images. Letters, numbers and symbols should be clear and consistent and have dimensions that allow for their reduction without impairing their readability. Titles and detailed explanations should be included as legends or captions, not on the illustrations themselves. If photographs of people are used, people should not be identifiable. All images should be consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals, and should be accompanied by a self-explanatory legend on a separate page. Images may be printed in color, at an additional cost to be paid by the author.
- Abstracts should be clear and concise, and should not contain subtitles (such as “introduction”, “materials and methods” “results” and “discussion”). They will include a full title, authors and institutional affiliation, but no references, tables or figures. Abstracts should only contain data demonstrated in the study. The Spanish version should be no longer than 300 words, while the English version (for manuscripts written in Spanish) may be up to 700 words.
- References should be cited in the text using superscript numbers in brackets placed immediately next to the last word of the information cited. They should be listed sequentially at the end of the article in the order in which they appear in the text, arranged as follows: a) Sequential number, b) last name and initials of all authors without a period after the initials, separated by a comma (if there are more than six authors, use et al.), c) title of the cited article, d) abbreviated journal name without periods (journal names will be abbreviated in accordance with the World List of Scientific Periodicals), e) year of publication, f) volume, first and last page numbers. For books: a) author, b) title, c) publisher, d) place of publication, e) first and last page numbers, f) year. For a book chapter: a) author of chapter, b) title of chapter, c) title of book, d) authors of book, e) publisher, f) place of publication, g) first page of chapter, h) year.
In all cases, the names of the authors should be written in bold letters.
- A DOI will only be accepted for articles published online ahead of print or for electronic articles from online journals.
- The use of referencing tools to automatically generate a reference list at the end of the article is not allowed, so as to avoid unintended automatic changes that may be difficult to control or deletion of references when editing the text.

Should fulfill the same requirements as original articles. Articles drawing conclusions on the results of the clinical, laboratory or therapeutic study shall be considered as case series, provided that they make a new contribution to the subject under study.
D. Case Reports:
Should meet the same requirements as original articles in addition to the following: their length is restricted to four A4 size double-spaced pages. Case reports should include (a) a Title, (b) an Abstract in Spanish and English, (c) up to five keywords in Spanish and five in English, (d) Introduction (with the interest focused on the description of a new condition to increase the number of international reports of infrequent cases or to contribute new therapeutic managements or diagnostic methods), (e) case presentation including medical record, description of the patient, diagnostic methods and, if appropriate, therapeutic methods and patient’s progress, and (f) a final comment should be made.
E. Reviews:
Will be requested by the editor and should be arranged in the following order: a) Title, b) Author(s), c) Affiliation, d) Abstract in Spanish and English, e) up to five keywords in Spanish and five in English, f) Introduction, g) Discussion, h) Conclusion and g) References. Their length is restricted to ten A4 size double-spaced pages.
F. Letters to the Editor:
Shall not exceed one A4 size double-spaced page, including text and references. Letters should comment on articles published in RAEM by other authors. The Editor of RAEM will send the letter to the main author of the article to which the letter refers so that the author may have an opportunity to write a reply within 20 days of receipt of the letter. The reply should follow the general guidelines specified in this item. Both the Letter to the Editor and its reply, if the author of the article writes a reply, will be published in the same issue of RAEM, without going through peer review by the RAEM Committee. Letters to the Editor may also focus on scientific issues in the field of endocrinology, preferably in relation to articles published in RAEM. In these cases, the editor reserves the right to publish those letters considered as relevant.
G. Articles published by Argentinean endocrinologists in foreign journals.
Authors may submit articles published within the last 2 years for their full or partial reproduction, at their discretion, in our journal. The author shall include an authorization from the editor of the journal in which the article was originally published.
H. Analyses of new journals and book reviews.
They should not exceed two A4 size double-spaced pages and should not include figures, tables or references.
I. Reports by departments.
All reports that are considered eligible by the Editorial Committee will be published. Eligibility is based on the appropriate presentation of reports, which should include a thorough discussion.
J. “Prof. Dr. Abraham Guitelman” Historical Sketches.
They should not exceed two A4 size double-spaced pages. These sketches should provide an additional space that may enrich our cultural heritage, adding a different, humane and spiritual touch to a scientific journal.
K. Monographs –specialization courses in endocrinology-.
All authors who wish to do so may submit monographs written in the last two years for their reproduction in this journal. Monographs should be those required as part of the courses designed to obtain a specialization degree in Endocrinology (for physicians or biochemists). The manuscript will be evaluated by two reviewers as any material published in RAEM. The author must obtain an authorization from the authorities responsible for the specialization course.

All paragraphs must be justified. Placeholder notes should be added in the text indicating where tables, graphs and figures should be inserted.
- Conflicts of interest: at the end of the text, under the subheading Conflicts of Interest Statement, authors of original articles, reviews or any type of article should disclose any relationship with organizations that may have direct or indirect financial interests in the issues discussed in the manuscript. If you have any doubts about what might be considered a potential conflict of interest, please contact the Editorial Committee. If there are no conflicts of interest, authors should state this in writing. Information about potential conflicts of interest should be available to reviewers and will be published with the manuscript if the Editorial Committee deems it necessary. Financial supports may be mentioned in the “Acknowledgements” section and it should be made clear that there are no financial or personal conflicts that might have inappropriately biased the author’s actions.
- Ethical guidelines for investigators: For experimental studies involving human subjects, authors should indicate if the study was conducted in accordance with the ethical criteria approved by the relevant institutional review board or ethics committee of the hospital or site where the study was conducted.
